2010 hyundai veracruz review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The hyundai veracruz is the company's first larger sport-utility vehicle. Hyundai hopes to beat the class benchmarks in powertrain performance, standard safety features, and cargo volume. The veracruz has instruments that are illuminated with a crisp blue backlighting, cupholders that are ringed with glowing blue light, and cubbies that are lined with a soft, velvety material. All veracruz models will seat seven, with a third row that tumbles flat into the floor. It is powered by the 3. 8-liter v6 with advanced systems like continuously variable valve timing and a variable intake system. This engine delivers 260-hp and 257 pound-feet of torque and is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. The veracruz is available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. For 2010, gls models now come equipped with a power driver seat, backup warning system, temperature controlled center console, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, automatic headlights, roof rack side rails and fog lights. Navigation is now available on gls models. Power adjustable pedals are no longer available.

2009 hyundai sonata review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Economical midsize sedan improved for 2009. introductionhyundai sonata gets a host of revisions for the 2009 model year. It comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, cruise control, power heated outside mirrors, power windows, central locking with keyless remote, am/fm/cd/mp3 stereo with six speakers, xm satellite radio, tilt steering wheel, 60/40 folding rear seat, and 215/60r16 tires on 16-inch steel wheels. The popular equipment package 650) adds automatic headlights, chrome window belt moldings, upgraded interior accents, power driver seat with adjustable lumbar support, steering wheel audio controls and a trip computer. The premium package 1,650) for se adds an upgraded am/fm/xm/6cd/mp3 audio system with six speakers, subwoofer and component amplifier; power tilt-and-slide sunroof; and an electrochromic auto-dimming rear view mirror with homelink and a compass.  the limited 23,970) adds leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, automatic climate control with filtration, the top-line audio system, electrochromic auto-dimming rear view mirror with homelink and compass, door sill trim and a sunroof. A chrome grille, chrome-accented exterior door handles, and bodyside moldings identify limited from the outside. Wheels and tires are the same size as those on the se, but use a different tread pattern. The limited v6 25,670) is similarly equipped. A new voice-activated navigation system is available 1250).  safety features on all sonatas include dual-stage front-seat airbags; front-seat side-impact airbags for torso protection; and full-coverage side curtain airbags designed to provide head protection. Antilock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd) and electronic stability control (esc) with traction control also come standard, as does a tire-pressure monitor. walkaroundalthough it's just a couple of years old, the hyundai sonata has been given a mild facelift for 2009. The front fascia remains refreshingly clean and spare, with sharply angled headlight housings and a deeper, clean-cut grille topped with a sliver of chrome. Wide and deep openings beneath the front bumper provide a home for tightly focused fog lamps and visually pull the front end closer to the ground, while directing cooling air into the radiator. The striking, concave hood reduces the car's perceived mass without cramping the engine compartment.  the side treatment avoids the all too common wedge look with an almost horizontal beltline riding above softly shouldered fenders and door panels. Mirrored z-seams where the end corners of the bumpers meet the quarter panels add interest, while blacked-out window surrounds play down the tall side glass. The flat-flanged rims on the up-level 17-inch wheels suggest a high-end european import more than an affordable asian nameplate.  the taillight outlines repeat the headlight shapes and bookend a broad, trapezoidal license plate inset; the backup light portion of the lens is smaller but output is the same. Again, there's a hint of other cars' architecture, most notably segment heavyweights like the camry, accord, and malibu. Sporty, california hot rod-idiom dual exhausts mark the v6-equipped versions.  the hyundai sonata continues to refine its signature design cues, the sculptors looking in the right places without offending conservatism. interiorthe 2009 sonata interior is a significant step forward from the previous model, although housed in the same cabin space. It is judged a large car by epa size standards and is the largest among midsize sedans in terms of interior volume.  the cabin feels more integrated, with new flowing lines for 2009. A tapered center stack rolls gently off the dash into the center console, replacing the blocky look of the previous dash. The overall look is competitive with most in the class and reminds us of some nissan and acura interiors. Materials seem to have more depth, as even the hard plastic trim common on lower door and console panels looks better.  lighter materials frame the vents and center stack. The center stack houses the clock, audio and navigation systems, and climate controls. There's also a sizable bin that holds 10 cd jewel cases above the ashtray ahead of the shifter. Splashes of trim grow from the console outward mid-height on the dash and are mirrored on the doors; on cars with woodgrain trim the shifter gets a slice of the same material. The largest is the speedometer, to its left is the tachometer, to its right conjoined water temperature and fuel gauges. In the lower dash to the left of the steering column is a bank of five switch plugs, only two of which are employed in the u. Version; one is an on/off for the esc (electronic stability control), the other the dash-light rheostat. Beyond that is a flip-down storage bin. The ignition key slides into a slot placed where it should be, in the dash to the right of the steering column instead of on the steering column itself, easier and more elegant when starting or shutting off the car.  for 2009, the limited model is available with a voice-recognition navigation system. Redundant controls for the audio are to the lower left-side of the hub. On the other side of the hub are the standard cruise controls, with a helpful cancel function. All stalk functions are straightforward and require no adaptation.  outward visibility is good, although some will find the wide c-pillars constrict quick, over-the-shoulder traffic checks for lane changing. Rear side windows roll all the way down, thanks to small, fixed, rear quarter windows that move the windows' rear tracks forward in the door, ahead of the wheel well. There's a roof-mounted, hinged assist handle inside every door.  seats are comfortable, with adequate bolstering fo. 2011 hyundai santa fe review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Great value in a midsize suv. introductionthe hyundai santa fe, a midsize crossover suv, is a practical size, roomy interior, worthwhile features, a combination of responsive performance and commendable fuel economy, an attractive price, and a terrific warranty. It's a good choice for dealing with urban and suburban traffic, taking the family on a vacation, or hauling random stuff from one spot to another.  the santa fe is a crossover utility vehicle, or cuv, meaning it is built with unibody construction, instead of having the body-on-frame structure of a traditional truck or larger suv. Compared to a truck-based suv, a crossover is generally lighter, smoother riding, more responsive, and delivers better fuel economy. Many of the suvs this size are crossovers now. The santa fe is built in the u. S., in montgomery, alabama.  the santa fe is an attractive vehicle with a sleek shape. It is available with front-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive for those who might need more traction.  the 2. 4-liter engine delivers 20/28 mpg city/highway when equipped with the 6-speed automatic, according to the federal government. A 6-speed manual is standard. Rated at 175 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 169 pound-feet of torque at 3750 rpm, this second-generation hyundai engine is high-tech: all aluminum, 16 valves, continuously variable valve timing on both camshafts and a variable intake system.  the 3. 5-liter v6 boasts 276 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 248 pound-feet of torque at 5000 rpm, big numbers, yet it gets an epa-estimated 20/26 mpg, good numbers, also. Those last figures edge out the 2. 4-liter with the 6-speed manual (19/26 mpg). The v6 comes standard with the 6-speed automatic, and it is a very good transmission, adding to the efficiency of the powertrain. For 2010, santa fe was upgraded with fresh styling, new engines, and the latest navigation technology. It was last redesigned for the 2007 model year. lineupthe 2011 hyundai santa fe is offered in three trim levels: gls, se, and limited. The gls comes standard with air conditioning, cloth upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, am/fm/cd/mp3 audio system with six speakers and ipod and usb auxiliary jacks, xm satellite radio, bluetooth hands-free phone system, trip computer, power and heated side mirrors, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, roof rack side rails, and 17-inch alloy wheels with p235/65r17 tires. The gls is also offered with the 3. 5-liter v6 with front-wheel drive 24,895) or all-wheel drive 26,595); either way a 6-speed automatic is standard.  santa fe se 25,995) comes standard with the 3. 5-liter dohc v6, 6-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. In addition to the equipment found on the gls, the se adds cloth and leather seating surfaces, electrochromic auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, front fog lights, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, windshield wiper deicer, automatic headlights, power driver seat with power lumbar adjustment, a rear spoiler, roof rack cross rails, and 18-inch alloy wheels with p235/60r18 tires. The se is also available with all-wheel drive 27,895), which adds heated front seats to the standard equipment list.  the premium package 3,200) for gls and se adds a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, navigation with a 6. 5-inch touch screen, premium audio system with external amp and subwoofer, and a rearview camera. (all new car test drive prices are manufacturer's suggested retail prices, which do not include destination charge and may change at any time without notice.)  tucson limited 27,045) comes with the 2. 4-liter engine and front-wheel drive along with leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control with outside temperature display, homelink universal garage-door opener, the sunroof, and an infiniti logic 7 10-speaker audio system with 6cd changer. The limited is available with the v6 engine and front-wheel drive 28,995), and the v6 engine with all-wheel drive 30,695). The premium package 2,050) adds navigation and a rear-view camera.  all santa fe models come with hyundai's bumper-to-bumper warranty of five years/60,000 miles, plus a powertrain warranty of 10 years/100,000 miles.  safety features that come standard on all models include dual front airbags, front seat side-impact airbags (for torso protection), side-curtain airbags (for head protection) and active front head restraints. Active safety features include antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control, traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. walkaroundwith its relatively long wheelbase and short overhangs, the santa fe has more the profile of a sporty station wagon than that of a traditional body-on-frame suv. The most noticeable attribute of the santa fe's front end is the complete absence of a bumper. Instead the front valence curves around from beneath the body to encompass the large grille and wrap-around headlights. The hood slopes up toward the raked windshield, and the wedge shape continues along the lower edges of the side windows that sweep up dramatically toward the tailgate.  even the rear has distinctively curved lines, with high taillight clusters that are partially mounted on the main body and the tailgate. The easy-to-see and easy-to-grab tailgate handle is handy and convenient.  both the 17- and 18-inch wheels are a five-split-spoke design, and with the other exterior enhancements give the santa fe a look that says it might cost more than its actual price. The roof rack is well integrated into the whole. interiorpleasing is the best way to describe the interior of the hyundai santa fe because it's trimmed in modern plastics with a soft-touch feel. All models feature blue accent lighting at night to illuminate the instruments, switches and the edges of the front cupholders. Even the base gls has nice luxury touches.  the gauges are mounted in a large instrument pod in front of the steering wheel. The radio and climate controls are well located in a center stack that is mounted high in the dashboard for easy reach and observation while driving.  according to hyundai's measurements, headroom and legroom in the santa fe is more than just competitive with other vehicles in its class, thanks to a uniquely designed unibody that is not based on an existing car platform. That allowed the engineers to maximize interior space.  fold down the second row of seats and there is 78. 2 cubic feet of storage space. Although the santa fe is one of smallest midsize suvs in exterior dimensions it is far from being the smallest inside, a tribute to its space-efficient design.  the air vents for the second row of seats are mounted in the b-pillar, which is much more effective than being mounted down low behind the center console, as in many vehicles. driving impressionnobody can expect an suv, even one built using a stiff unibody, to handle as well as a sedan. However, the hyundai santa fe comes mighty close. It has continuously variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust valves, and a variable intake system that enhances engine breathing, and, as a result of these advanced technologies, delivers both better performance and superior fuel economy than the 2. 7-liter v6 it replaced. It also has the continuously variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust, and a three-step variable intake system that enhances engine breathing and efficiency at both low and high engine speeds. The benefit is felt in both off-the-line acceleration and in passing performance. In addition, it also delivers better fuel economy than the previous 3. 3-liter v6. Both these engines are big improvements and really enhance the viability of the santa fe in its competitive market segment.  the 6-speed automatic transmission features shiftronic, which allows manual control of the gear selection, and it has both overdrive ratios and a lock-up torque converter for improved highway fuel economy.  we drove a santa fe with all-wheel drive. It's electronically controlled and automatically sends power to the wheels with the best traction. For really slippery or off-road conditions, there is a driver-selectable all-wheel-drive lock that provides a fixed 50/50 torque split between the front and rear wheels. On dry pavement (not locked) it did not feel any different from the front-driv. The 2011 Sonata lineup starts with the Sonata GLS, which retails for less than $20,000 and delivers more power than other cars in its class.
